2021 Historical Society Events

For the time being and until it’s safe to reschedule, all programs are cancelled due to the pandemic!

Watch for announcements of rescheduled programs in newspaper, Facebook, etc. or call us at 607-776-9930!

The Society’s headquarters in the Magee House will remain open per the regular schedule but by appointment only.

However, we do hope to once again to fill a Covered Wagon bus on Columbus Day morning and take off for a day among the tombstones and the beautiful colored leaves! All arrangements have been made, but if the continuing Covid-19 restrictions make it necessary to cancel again, be assured that those who purchase a ticket will have their money refunded!
We’re looking forward to seeing our cemetery buddies again!

Visit Cemeteries in Avoca, Howard,
Dansville, Wayland & Cohocton

Enjoy the beautiful fall colors while visiting a family monument that stands tall
and lonely in a field; the waters that claimed the lives of a man, his wife & two
horses; a pioneer family whose great, great grandson became a local legend;
a cemetery named for a man who fathered 27 children; a memorial erected
in a cemetery in memory of the German families who emigrated from St. Wendel
in Germany; two men and the landmark that they created 171 years ago; a couple
who married after a two day courtship and the extensive family that resulted;
and a founder of the first Catholic church in Cohocton. We will dine around noon
in the Village Hall in downtown Arkport!
